Key responsibilities
A Second Person’s role is to assist the Train Driver operating trains on local and national rail networks. They may be required to maneuver engines in yards and sheds. They check the engine and general state of the train before commencing their journey. They assist the driver to follow train signals and must monitor travel speeds to ensure compliance with safety protocols and regulations.
