Key responsibilities
Train Drivers operate trains on local and national rail networks, they may be required to maneuver engines in yards and sheds. They check the engine and general state of the train before commencing their journey. They are responsible for following train signals and must monitor travel speeds to ensure compliance with safety protocols and regulations. They are responsible for making announcements to passengers and must be aware of track conditions and weather conditions.
